Six minutes to six, said the great round clock over the information booth in Grand Central Station. The tall young Army lieutenant who had just come from the direction of the tracks lifted his sunburned face, and his eyes narrowed to note the exact time. But she had refused all his pleas to send him her photograph. That seemed rather bad, of course. But she had explained: "If your feeling for me has any reality, any honest basis, what I look like won't matter. Suppose I'm beautiful. I'd always be haunted by the feeling that you had been taking a chance on just that, and that kind of love would disgust me. Suppose I'm plain (and you must admit that this is more likely). Then I'd always fear that you were going on writing to me only because you were lonely and had no one else. No, don't ask for my picture. One minute to six - Lieutenant Blandford's heart leaped higher than his plane had ever done.

A young woman was coming toward him. Her figure was long and slim; her blond hair lay back in curls from her delicate ears. Her eyes were blue as flowers, her lips and chin had a gentle firmness. In her pale green suit, she was like springtime come alive.

He started toward her, entirely forgetting to notice that she was wearing no rose, and as he moved, a small, provocative smile curved her lips.

"Going my way, soldier?" she murmured.

Uncontrollably, he made one step closer to her. Then he saw Hollis Meynell.

She was standing almost directly behind the girl, a woman well past 40, her graying hair tucked under a worn hat. She was more than plump; her thick-ankled feet were thrust into low-heeled shoes. But she wore a red rose in the rumpled lapel of her brown coat.

Blandford felt as though he were being split in two, so keen was his desire to follow the girl, yet so deep was his longing for the woman whose spirit had truly companioned and upheld his own; and there she stood. Lieutenant Blandford did not hesitate. His fingers gripped the small worn, blue leather copy of Of Human Bondage, which was to identify him to her. He squared his broad shoulders, saluted and held the book out toward the woman, although even while he spoke he felt shocked by the bitterness of his disappointment.

而且不是因为哪些书对四级有好处才去读，而是通过阅读来顺便帮到自己准备四六级。

判断一个英语书是不是适合你，你只需考虑这几点就够了：

你翻开第一页，能看懂多少，能看进去多少

就算一本英语书，对四级再有帮助，但你要是看不懂至少50%，也是很难持续坚持下去的。

你要以自己的水平去衡量一个书是否适合自己。

你对这本书感不感兴趣，有没有动力读完它？

很多人长到这么大，连自己对什么东西感兴趣弄不清楚，还真是有些悲哀。

最好的评判标准是你能看懂一些，又有兴趣读完，那就是适合你的书。

推荐：小王子、夏洛的网、暮光之城、哈利波特英文版。

读完才是最重要的，无需为了那几个生词，总是停顿

读英文书也好，做四级也好，总会遇到不认识的单词。

一个人很难做到，把每个单词都背下来。

所以最好的应对办法就是训练自己长文的能力，多读，培养语感，学会用上下文来推测生词含义。

总之，养成喜欢阅读的习惯，比看任何一本单独的英文书带来的帮助都大。

感谢彩虹的邀请。对于考英语四级这个问题，我已经不止一次的回答了。我也在积极的准备这次的四级考试。希望这次和大家都能一起过四级。其实我觉得考四级拼的就是单词量，如果你能把高中的一些单词量恢复，并且学习一些四级的基本单词的话，可能就在单词量上就没什么问题了。如果你单词量不够的话，根本就看不了原著，即使给你一本原著你也看不下去。但是如果你单词够的话，我推荐以下著作：穷爸爸和富爸爸。格列佛游记。还有一些VOA的视频。对于练习听力很有帮助。希望和我一样没过的加油！喜欢就请点赞。关注。

这里我就再介绍下适合冲刺英语四六级的英语名著。记住，看原版书，电子书籍效率最高，配合欧陆词典。（具体请浏览我以前写过的回答）

1、《简·爱》

内容简介:《简·爱》是英国十九世纪著名的女作家夏洛蒂·勃朗特的代表作，是一部带有自传色彩的长篇小说，它阐释了这样一个主题：人的价值＝尊严＋爱。

2、《雾都孤儿》

内容简介:本书作者揭露出隐藏在伦敦狭小、肮脏的偏僻街道里的恐怖和暴力。因此他为我们写了邪恶的费金，残暴的比尔·赛克斯，以及一大群窃贼强盗。这些人撒谎、欺诈、偷盗，害怕进监狱，害怕郐子手把绞索套到他们的脚颈上，在惴惴不安中生活。小奥利弗·特威斯特——一个孤儿，他被投入一个充满贫困与犯罪的世界，忍饥挨饿，挨打挨骂，从来没有人爱他。他为我们写出了南希——可怜、凄惨、悲苦的南希，她生活在一个残忍的世界中，却挣扎着要忠实于她所爱的人。

3、《傲慢与偏见》

4、《苔丝》

这是一本忧伤的书：一位少女的生命被慢慢地、但确确实实地毁了——不是被她的敌人，而是被那些自称爱她的人。这是怎样的爱，何以摧毁自己所爱？

悲哀总是在眼睁睁地目睹错误发生却又无力阻拦之时产生。苔丝是一个快乐的姑娘，她的生活本该十分幸福——但合适的人儿犹豫着，不当的人却捷足先登。“别让她走！”我们不禁要大喊，或者“现在就告诉他，以免悔之太晚！”

5、《白衣女人》

内容简介:一个突然出现的白衣女人孤独地伫立在月下的荒野中。沃尔特·哈特里物一开始被她吓一跳，但后来发现她非常害怕，头脑也不清楚，需要他的帮助。他温和有礼地同她交谈，陪她走了一段路，指给她前面应该怎么走。很快，她就又消失在了夜色里。

这次偶遇拉开了一连串事件的序幕，也把沃尔特、玛丽安以及她同母异父的妹妹劳拉、珀西瓦爵士和他的意大利朋友福科斯科伯爵扯进一个似是而非的谜团之中。而谜团的核心就是那个悲伤孤独的白衣女人——她的生活、她的过去还有她急于在死前揭开的秘密。

我觉得以英语四级的水平，去看英文名著，真的是一种作死的感觉。但你想通过阅读名著来提升你的英语，这也不是不可能的事情。你可以先看那些你感兴趣，而且被拍成电影的名著，先看电影，再来去看名著。这样你对整个故事就有了一个具体的了解啦，而且，你能够知道故事发生的背景，看原著的时候就能更好的去理解了，遇到看不懂的地方，你回想一下电影情节，肯定能够猜测到句子的意思。这样是不是比自己边看名著，边疯狂的查单词要轻松简单容易多了呢

这些电影都挺好看的，看完电影，可以尝试着去看英文原著哦，坚持阅读的话，对你的英语肯定会有帮助的了。

说实话，英语四级的水平看英语名著...估计看两页就会放弃的，因为看不懂...

我建议还是看一些儿童看的童话书或者故事书吧。介绍两本之前看的英文原著。

这一本里面的句子都挺简单易懂的，没有长难句。而且故事内容，我认为也挺适合大人看的。

毕竟是经典，把这本书作为英语阅读的第一本书是不错的选择。

这本书我建议在迷惘，或者不知道怎么做的时候，都可以拿出来看一看。很薄的一本书，里面的词汇也用的比较简单，英语四级的水平应该是够得。

看看下面列出来的销量排行榜，就知道这本书非同一般啦。

美亚上有专门分类，儿童阅读的书，打开之后还有分年龄段的，四级的水平大概在6-8岁吧，也可以看你自己感兴趣的书。建议不要挑成人看书籍，因为词汇量的不足，可能看一会就泄气，看不下去了。

如果有Kindle的话，倒是可以试试阅读难度高一些的书籍，比如名人自传等。

英语四级的水平，不妨先从一下英语短文，简短的文章中开始培养自己的英语阅读习惯。

读名著跟英语四级的直接关系还真看不出来。四级是应试，多熟悉真题和相关语法词组等知识点。读名著目的是了解知识？增加词汇？还是什么？

就算增加一些词汇量，这些单词也不一定是四级考试中需要的。

阅读英语名著，可以帮你轻松搞定四级的四大题型：听力、阅读、翻译和写作，上650不是梦！前面的回答都说四级的水平读不了名著，实在是外行话。不是读不了，关键是读什么和怎么读。下面就跟各位分享一下我的方法。

前面的回答都说英语名著生词量大，不停的查单词会让你丧失兴趣读不下去。可是为什么不挑生词量小的去读呢？

牛津书虫系列英语简易读物50本。是名著的简写版，在词汇和句式上做了简化，并且有每个章节后面都有汉语翻译。而且有不同的难度级别，从小学生到大学生，都能找到适合自己的。

1）读前词汇准备。

把名著电子书导入“爱英阅”软件，提取出书中所有生词，按生僻度排序，打印出单词表或导入手机词典，大致背一背有个印象就行。

2）享受阅读乐趣。

读的过程中，不要查任何单词！一个也不要查！尽量保持阅读的连贯性，享受故事情节的乐趣。除非遇到特别好的句子或看不懂的长句，做个标记，然后查看后面相应的汉语翻译，也做标记。

3）读后听有声书。

是的，几乎多有名著都有有声书！适合在不合适阅读的场景利用碎片化时间听。读过一遍后，对情节和词汇比较熟悉了，很容易就能听懂，能听懂的才是“有效输入”，有效输入才能提高听力！

4）看汉语翻英语。

还记的之前在汉语对照上做的标记吗？读了一遍英语，尝试翻译过长难句，听了一遍有声书，经过了三次输入后，对于这些长难句或美句已经有了比较深刻的印象！现在看着汉语尝试翻译成英语，这会迅速提高你的翻译能力！

5）进行概要写作。

用自己的语言在几百词之内总结全书，非常锻炼自己的思维、总结和写作能力。也可以加上自己的读后感。可以尝试引用之前翻译过的美句，或者套用长难句的句式！

对于大多数没能顺利过四级的同学来说，基本上就是听力在拉后腿，当然如果你的英语底子比较弱，那就应该先开始打好自己的基础了。

个人英语书籍阅读的不多，一般四级的水平只需要把高中的课程学好，即可稳过四级英语。

在考四级之前，自己还没有怎么看过什么英文原版名著，直到现在只是把《海狼》看完，《哈利波特》英文版第一部都没看完，原版虽然买了，但是实在难读，我的六级英语都过了，但是还是感觉不认识的词语很多，看来考试和真的阅读需要的词汇量不可同日而语。

个人倒是觉得，如果单词量太小的话，读英文名著可能不是享受，而是受罪。

有可能的。你最好参加报考学校的单独考试，这样可能对外语要求不是很高而且还会充分考虑到你在文学方面的造诣。

不要想着投机取巧！考研是很实在很踏实的事。

你说的情况叫特招...如果正规程序进行考试，除非过了初试在复试的时候才是人和人的对话，那时候才会考虑你是否有资格被录取

考研的破格录取时专门针对有特长的考生的，但是需要有导师进行推荐，请问你有导师可以推荐你吗？

其实这个概率是很小的，不如自己好好复习，考个好成绩！英语是考研中难度最大的，需要花最大功夫的课程，有基础还不行，还得有方法和技巧
