但一般西方国家都称之为mystery story

whodunit，即who has done it，是意指“凶手是谁”的略写，同理还有howdunit（如何犯案）和whydunit（动机为何，注：whydunit的趣向于本格推理与社会派是有不同的表现方式），此外说的较多的类似短语还有whatdunit（概指对谜面式的现象的诘问，像岛田的作品就常常出现，不过如今与叙诡也有微妙联系）

常见的还有一个howcatchem，是倒叙推理（inverted detective story）延伸出来的名词，即how catch them，如何抓到犯人（犯案的证据）
